THE TEMPLE STUDIES GROUP Margaret Barker, Robin Griffith-Jones, Laurence Hemming, Susan Parsons and the late Geoffrey Rowell established a Temple Studies Group to convene symposia on Temple themes. The Temple Studies Group promotes and enables study of the Temple in Jerusalem, believing that the world view, traditions, customs and symbolism of the Temple were formative influences on the development of Christianity. This is an ecumenical and international initiative, entirely self funding and dedicated to the development of scholarship in this field.

SYMPOSIA Temple Studies Group symposia begin with an introduction to one aspect of ancient Temple tradition, and then trace this into Christianity, to show how Temple teaching has been preserved in all branches of the Church. The symposia are normally convened once a year and are open to all. In addition to organising one day symposia, the Group will encourage advanced academic research and support occasional colloquia on Temple themes. From 2018 we are able to resource local churches with one-day introductory symposia on Temple Theology, see Symposia |
